There are a number of different mirrors to download from, just select one. You will want to download the latest version number that has the name of the media you will be burning it onto, I.E. if you are burning it onto a CD select the one that has CD in the name, if you are burning to DVD select the one that has DVD in the name. Make sure that the last three letters are "iso". After downloading the ISO you will need a program like Nero to burn it onto a CD. Do not burn the ISO image onto a CD as a file. Instead use your program to select the ISO image to burn to a CD as an image. After you burn the CD stick it in the computer where you want to pull the files off of and reboot. When you reboot you should see a splash screen that says Knoppix. If you do not see a splash screen that says Knoppix you might need to change your boot options. To do that you need to get into your bios. Click here if you do not know how. At the Knoppix splash screen press the enter key. After Knoppix loads you should see your hard drive listed on the desktop. There might be more than one, do not be alarmed. Just click on each hard drive until you see your files. The C hard drive will have either Documents And Settings, or Users. Insert your flash drive or CD or DVD into your computer that you are going to copy your files to. If you are copying your files to a CD or DVD select K3B as your burning tool to copy the files to. If you're copying your files to a flash drive click Open Folder. Drag and drop your files from your hard drive to your media. You can also copy and paste them to. If using K3B make sure you click burn. Congratulations! You have now backed up your files. Store your disks in a safe place until you're ready to use them.
