How to Install and Operate Avast! Anti-Virus

Download and install Avast! from www.avast.com. After it installs it will ask you if you want to do a boot time scan. Say yes. When you reboot the computer it will start scanning your computer.

Avast! Anti-Virus is very easy to operate. When you install Avast! Anti-virus the next time you reboot there will be a window telling you to register Avast. Just make sure you are on the internet then click on it and follow the simple instructions. After you fill out the form they will send you an e-mail with your product key. Follow the instructions in the e-mail to insert the code into your program. If you get lost they have a link to a video in the e-mail that you can click on that will show you exactly how to do it.

Setup the screen saver to be the Avast screen saver. To change screen savers just click on settings and then click on the screen saver you want. DO NOT JUST CHOOSE YOUR SCREEN SAVER THE OLD WAY, always change it through the Avast screen saver, as it will scan your computer while the screen saver of your choice runs.

If Avast finds a virus always click "Move to Chest". No other action is required.

To scan a file that you just downloaded click on "Open File Location" in the download window. Right click the file you just downloaded and click "Scan with Avast! Anti-Virus".

Please note that Avast! Antivirus is not a complete solution in and of itself. I also recommend installing Spybot Search and Destroy as well.
